Sorry, but I can't just check in randomly some snapshot from some
code sent by one person that is maintained by somebody else. That
does not make sense.
I certainly won't object in extensions added to AUC TeX, but the
author should then register as a developer at Savannah and take over
the maintenance of his files within AUCTeX from there.
In case where there is already an established way of distribution, it
will not be necessary in many cases to merge this with AUCTeX. Where
AUCTeX itself is lacking the hooks and mechanisms to combine with
other packages cleanly, of course changes are appropriate and can be
discussed on the auc-tex list readily. And, of course, if somebody
volunteers as a developer and uses his write access in order to check
in well-considered changes, perhaps after outlining and discussing
their ideas on the list, he will meet less resistance than if he
tries also to persuade others why they should do that work as well.
Since this is of general interest to AUC TeX users and developers and
the distribution is, anyway, already far from private, I copy this to
the list.
Oh, BTW, Janusz, I fear I have still your patches flying around which
you sent me months ago when I was not yet in this position. Per has
handed me a backlog of mails, and I have my own priorities of fixes
that need to go both into preview-latex and AUC TeX, and a doctorate
thesis wanting to be completed as well. And papers and
conferences... And for lack of a "real" job, money making in
between. I have not forgotten them. Again, if you can round up
people with sufficient programming skills that would want to join
development and cater for part of the code, you are welcome. I'll
try coming up to par in due time.

Yes, do you know what problems arise with the current Elisp stuff in
connection with AUCTeX? Is it written by you? How does it interact,
and where are the problems?
