Pamela Samuelson says the debate in the US has shifted from patentability to patent quality. EFF and Pubpat are helping to promote this perception. The European experience is not appreciated well enough in the US. Meanwhile the US government is pressuring Australia and others to lock their patent laws into unlimited patentability through bilateral trade agreements.
